Understanding
the body

Infertility refers to the inability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse, or after six months for women over the age of 35. It can affect both men and women and may result from a variety of factors.

In women, infertility is often linked to issues with ovulation, such as irregular or absent menstrual cycles caused by hormonal imbalances, or structural problems in the reproductive system, such as blocked fallopian tubes or uterine abnormalities.

SYMPTOMS

Not being able to conceive after one year of trying (or after six months for women over 35), despite having regular, unprotected intercourse.

Chronic pelvic pain outside of menstruation could indicate conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), fibroids, or endometriosis, which can interfere with conception.

Experiencing two or more miscarriages in a row is a sign of recurrent pregnancy loss and could indicate underlying fertility issues.

How to deal with Infertility

We suggest taking a multi pronged approach when trying to manage your symptoms.

LIFESTYLE CHANGES

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle plays a significant role in improving fertility. Incorporating a nutrient-rich diet which is full of vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fats, can also support reproductive health. Regular exercise helps regulate hormone levels, further improving the chances of conception.

MEDICAL TREATMENT

Medications to stimulate ovulation and Hormone Replacement Therapy for women with low levels of hormones like progesterone or estrogen, hormone therapy can regulate menstrual cycles and improve fertility.

SURGICAL INTERVENTION

Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) offer various solutions for infertility. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) involves placing sperm directly into the uterus around ovulation to improve fertilization chances, often used for unexplained infertility. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a highly effective treatment where eggs are retrieved, fertilized in a lab, and the embryos are transferred to the uterus.

ALTERNATIVE THERAPY

Yoga is often recommended as it helps improve circulation, reduce stress, and balance hormones, which may positively impact reproductive health. Stress-relieving techniques like meditation, deep breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices are also effective in reducing the psychological strain that often accompanies infertility, potentially enhancing treatment outcomes.
